Dedication

The 2009 Kenton County Fair is dedicated to Robert G. Maddox. A former Kenton County resident, Mr. Maddox has volunteered his time as the treasurer of the fair for over 45 years.

Bob MaddoxRobert grew up on a farm with his parents, Grant and Archmarie, and two brothers. As a youngster, he helped to farm and raise dairy cattle, chickens and rabbits. He was actively involved in 4-H, even earning a trip to attend the National 4-H Congress in Chicago, Illinois.

Mr. Maddox is a 1959 graduate of the University of Kentucky. Upon graduating from U. K. he returned to Northern Kentucky where he served as the Kenton County 4-H Extension Agent.

By trade, Mr. Maddox is a nurseryman and landscaper. He owns and operates Maddox Garden Center, along with his son.

His life has been one of service to others, not only to the Kenton County Fair, but to his church, Erlanger Baptist; the Boone County High School Alumni Association; the Cincinnati Landscaper’s Association; his family and the community.

One of the original founders of the Kenton County Fair, Mr. Maddox has donated countless hours to the fair. He loves the Kenton County Fair and is always looking for ways to improve and help make it better for the community, also to give of his time and knowledge in an attempt to do so.

He and his wife Bonita have been married for over fifty years. They are the parents of two daughters, Michelle and Kim, and their son, Scott. They are the proud grandparents of 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters.

“Through the years that I have served, Mr. Maddox has been an inspiration, mentor and friend as a charter member of the Kenton County Fair in 1963. His devotion and dedication to the organization has made the Kenton County Fair what it is today. Bob, along with others like him, has guided many young adults to become responsible citizens today within our community and fair organization.” -Allen Jones, vice-president
